The Outwards Scoop

We all know that it's important to scoop all tissue  from the outside of the bra *into* the cups, as well as positioning the wires correctly , but recently I have been thinking about an extension of the manoeuvre: The Outwards Scoop You may be thinking that this is just a way to make a too small cup look like it fits correctly , but I promise you it's more than that. What is the purpose of the scoop and swoop? To make sure that all tissue that was outside the wires is now inside the wires - of course, provided that the bra isn't too narrow overall. For those with soft tissue (and particuarly those with pendulous breasts and loose skin as well), or just a very projected shape simply scooping the traditional way can force tissue into the gore space *past* the root of your breast. This causes tissue to sit under the gore, either pushing it away or having the gore sit on breast tissue - not ideal! A strong "regular" scoop and swoop makes the gore float on this bra. Th...

Bra Science: How Band Size Changes with Cup Size - Freya

Welcome to part two of my series on how band lengths are not always equal between cup sizes. Last time we had Cleo by Panache , now we're testing Freya's band lengths. I collected Bratabase data on the stretched and unstretched band lengths in a couple of band sizes of Freya bras - the ones with the most data. The results are as follows: This chart, as you have probably guessed, shows Freya's stretched band lengths. In 28 and 30 bands, from D to G cups, the bands are fairly consistent. However in 32 and 34 bands, the data is more varied - this is probably due to the smaller sample sizes of these band sizes. (I also want to note that the 34s are comparatively larger than the 32s, 30s and 28s). When we analysed Cleo's data, we saw a clear increase in stretched band lengths from G to GG cups. Here, there isn't anything quite as visible though there does appear to be a band length increase of about 0.5 to 1cm. H cups are reasonably consistent with GGs, aside from in ...

I will be the coolest kid! — Comexim Graffiti Review in 55M

Comexim's designs don't often inspire me. However, as a connoisseur of all things fun - underwear or otherwise - I just had to buy this bra as soon as I saw it. A graffiti print longline? SIGN ME UP! I ordered the bra in a 55M with the "deeper cups" and "reduced cup height" alterations (though I have no way of telling if they were done or not). I paid 149 zloty for it, a little over £30, plus shipping. Design:   Sorry for the low quality image! My phone just wasn't cooperating with me today! Be still, my beating heart. I adore this print and the vibrant colours. Although the gore floats - LOOK AT THAT CLOCK CHARM! I love it! Plain bows are so overdone, give me a charm any day! While I really like the block of graffiti print below the cups, unfortunately, the rest of the band and the inside of the bra is just boring black, which does make me a bit sad. However, would adding more colour just bring it over the top?  The straps are just embellished bl...

Bra Science: How Band Size Changes with Cup Size - Cleo by Panache

Just when  you thought bra fitting couldn't get any more complicated, it turns out that a 30 often isn't the same as a 30. It's commonly known that people with larger cup sizes tend to choose smaller bands over those with smaller cup sizes. But is this an organic decision or influenced by changing band lengths with cup sizes? I collected Bratabase data on the stretched and unstretched band lengths in a couple of band sizes of Cleo bras - the ones with the most data. The results were pretty interesting! The title is self-explanatory - this chart details Cleo's stretched band lengths. As you can see, from D-G the bands are fairly consistent. The 28s stretch to just a little over 28", the 30s stretch to a little over 30", and the 32s hover around a little over 32". All seems to be pretty normal. But then we reach the GG. The G to GG jump is known to be a place where lots of brands change scaling, cup construction and other aspects of a bra. The stretched ban...

Longline Giving Me a Hard Time - Freya Pandora Review in 28G

I adore how this bra looks, on the stock photos, and, to an extent, irl. It looks pretty basic from the front but it has some stunning design features that I will delve into later. However, in true Freya fashion, this bra only goes up to a 28G so it really doesn't fit me, which makes me sad. Onto the review... Design: This bra works pretty well. At first you may just think it's any old embroidered black bra, but it's so much more than that. The colours on the embroidery really jump out, they're so bright and intense! I couldn't quite catch that on camera, but take my word for it. The "stems" are plain black, so the rest of the bra doesn't look boring. The strap embellishments are gold and black chevron-y things, they look super unique. Again, the colour didn't show up. They really are very gold. The gore trinket is a weird greyish blue though, it doesn't really go with the blue thread in my opinion. The trim on the top of the cups and bottom of...

Take a Bow - Cleo Della Review in 28G

I so wanted this bra to work. After the unprecedented success of Cleo Blake, I've been super willing to try more Cleos. Sadly, it just wasn't to be. I ordered this bra from Lingerie Outlet Store on Amazon for £19.90. Unfortunately, the bow fell off immediately as I put the bra on. Upon closer inspection I couldn't find any loose threads in the gore, and the threads on the bow were messy, so this was a manufacturing error rather than the bra getting damaged in transport. I contacted them the seller, and after asking for photographic proof, they offered me a 30% discount or a refund. I opted for the refund, based on how the bra doesn't fit. Design: I think this bra looks super cool -  I love the black wire channels. The bow really lifts the design, and the surprisingly sheer fabric makes the flowers stand out a lot. I just wish the pattern was carried onto the back as it's just a plain, boring (but slightly sheer) black. Construction: Aside from the bow, this bra is w...
